Cusco – Chinchero
We leave Cusco and travel through the Andean countryside toward Chinchero, a traditional town known for its archaeological heritage and textile traditions.
At a local textile center, you will meet Andean artisans and learn about traditional weaving techniques. They will explain how natural materials and plants are used to create different colors and how traditional designs are incorporated into handmade textiles.
You will also have time to take photographs and learn more about the cultural traditions that continue to be practiced in the region.
Chinchero – Moray
We continue toward Moray, one of the most fascinating archaeological sites in the Sacred Valley.
Here, you will see enormous circular terraces built into the natural landscape. The Incas developed sophisticated agricultural systems throughout the Andes, and Moray provides an impressive example of their understanding of terrain, water management, and cultivation.
Your guide will explain the history and different interpretations surrounding the site while you explore the terraces and enjoy the surrounding mountain scenery.
Moray – Maras Village
From Moray, we continue toward Maras, a historic Andean town surrounded by agricultural fields and mountain landscapes.
The drive offers beautiful views of the countryside and gives you a glimpse of everyday life in the Cusco region.
Maras Salt Mines
The final major stop is the spectacular Maras Salt Mines, also known as the Maras salt pans.
Thousands of small salt pools cover the mountainside, supplied by a natural salty spring. Local families have maintained and worked these salt pools for generations, continuing traditional methods of collecting and processing salt.
Take time to admire the unusual landscape, learn about the traditional salt production process, and capture photographs from the designated viewpoints.
Return to Cusco
After visiting the salt pans, we begin the return journey to Cusco.
Depending on traffic and the exact starting point, the tour generally finishes in the early afternoon, leaving you free to enjoy lunch or continue with other activities in Cusco.
